As a local authority we are responsible for investigating and providing help for children who have been abused or are at risk of abuse. Social workers and Police officers work together to assess and protect children and prepare an individual response to their circumstances. In some cases this may involve a child protection case conference being called. If the child is seen to be at risk of abuse, the child's name will be placed on the local child protection register.
- We will assess and support children and families where child abuse is known or reported and where children are, or may be, at risk of abuse.
- We will provide services that meet the standards set out in the Edinburgh & Lothians Child Protection Procedures.
- We will liaise and work closely with other organisations such as Police, Health and Education departments.
Please contact the school to speak to our Head Teacher if you have any safeguarding concerns in the first instance during opening hours for advice.
Failing this, please contact the duty social worker at your local social work office if you have any child protection issues or queries (see contact details on this page).
